Jay knows Charlotte! Prior to moving to The Queen City with his wife and two young boys in 2015, the only thing Jay knew about the area was the traffic on I-77, as several times a year, he would make the trip from Athens, GA (where he grew up with his mom), to Blacksburg, VA (where his father resides).
After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Housing, Interior Design, and Resource Management, Jay earned his MBA with a focus in E-Commerce. While in graduate school, Jay was a substitute teacher, and quickly realized that his passion was in teaching. He switched gears from the business world to education very quickly, and taught middle school in Roanoke, VA for 14 years prior to moving to Charlotte. In addition to teaching, Jay coached track, cross country, soccer, and volleyball. He also led an Outdoor Adventure Club at his school that focused on giving inner-city children the ability and resources to experience the great outdoors.
In 2015, Jay accepted a position as the Greater Charlotte Regional Director for a non-profit character building and running program for boys called, Let Me Run. Jay has always been a passionate coach, and an avid runner making this a great fit for his active lifestyle. He did not realize that one of the major benefits of taking this role would be learning so much about the Greater Charlotte area. With teams at over 150 school and sites, Jay has become familiar with not just Mecklenburg County, but all surrounding counties as well, including Union, Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, York (SC), Lancaster (SC), and Chester (SC). He is also extremely knowledgeable regarding the school systems in the area.
Jay knows this area, and has fallen in love with all it has to offer. He can't wait to share his passion with you. His relaxed attitude, combined with his positivity, energy, and expertise are here for you to make the process of buying and/or selling a home one that you will remember fondly.
When not working, Jay can be found running through the streets of Charlotte with friends in our booming running community. He can also be found volunteering with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools where he serves as a leader for a non-profit men's volunteering group called, Be There Dad. His two boys, ages 9 and 12, also keep him running all over the city!
JAY GIVES BACK
Jay has always been passionate about giving his time and sharing his passion with local nonprofits. There are several that Jay has volunteered with since his move to Charlotte and hopes to use Real Estate as a way to continue to give gack. Jay will donate $500 per buy or sell transaction back to one of the following nonprofits on a rotating basis. All donations will be kept local to Greater Charlotte, and will go towards helping these amazing organizations continue to make a difference on our community. Jay will also be volunteering with all these groups on a regular basis, as he has a goal of donating 200 hours per year combined towards these organizations.
